Local 196 UNA welcomes

Mr. Nolan Crouse and Dr. Jasmine Hasselback

“The Cannabis Gold Rush: Impacting Nurses

Attend this prevalent and timely Education Dinner to learn about the early research of the impact of non-medical use of cannabis for health professionals and the policy implications. Hear about the front-line impact that cannabis legalization has had in Colorado based on experiential research  in home care and school nursing.

Dr. Hasselback is a Medical Officer of Health in the Edmonton Zone of Alberta Health Services. A Medical Officer of Health is everyone’s doctor, but a doctor that you don’t go see. Her expertise is preventing illness and promoting health. Dr. Hasselback and her colleagues in the Edmonton Zone have worked a great deal over the last year to maximize the benefits and minimize the harms of the legalization of cannabis through promoting healthy public policy.

Mr. Nolan Crouse, MBA, is the former Chair of the Capital Region and former Mayor of St. Albert.  As Mayor, on behalf of all the cities in Alberta, he performed substantial Colorado research and interviews with 18 Cities in Colorado in preparation for a City-Symposium which he led in September, 2017.  Nolan will share some of the key Colorado findings with respect to the cannabis legalization in that state as it relates to the medical findings.
