Local 196 represents over 1900 Community RNs and RPNs in 46 offices throughout the Edmonton zone (including Fort Saskatchewan, Leduc, Morinville, St. Albert, Devon & surrounding area).
To assist the staff serving in the community, Local 196 depends on a dedicated group of Office Representatives working out of over 40 offices to provide a cohesive service over a large geographic area.

The mission of UNA Local 196 is to recognize and represent our diverse membership by serving as a knowledgeable resource through effective communication and accountability.
Vision Statement
UNA Local 196 strives to create and maintain an active and engaged membership. This will be demonstrated by increased attendance, participation in local functions, active committees and positive feedback, both locally and provincially. The members and Executive of Local 196 will embody pride and demonstrate confidence in themselves as individuals, nurses and union members. Local 196 will continue to stimulate discussion and encourage open communication with its membership.
