Education Events are funded by the EI Rebate Fund. Local 196 Education Committee must adhere to the ‘UNA Policy on Employment Insurance Rebate Trust Fund’ in disbursing the EI Fund which ensures equitable application of the fund and availability to all duespayers of Local 196. The Education Committee strives to provide enjoyable and educational dinners that are valued by our duespayers.
Due to the ongoing public health restrictions and the pandemic, in person Education Events are on HOLD. Updates will be posted to the Local website and circulated via email to Office Reps for distribution.
Local 196 Education Events are held up to four times per year. For in-person events, Registration is through EventBrite via a link posted to the (left side of the) homepage. Registration opens approximately 3-4 weeks prior to each dinner.
ONLY DUESPAYERS OF LOCAL 196 may attend these events.
Ticket cancellation instructions:
If you register for an Education dinner and are unable to attend, you must cancel your ticket via one of two ways:

ADVANCE NOTICE IS MUCH APPRECIATED.
You may not “give” your ticket to another duespayer/member to attend in your place.
If you missed the deadline to register to attend an Education diner, you may “join the waitlist”. Click the EventBrite link on the homepage –> you will be redirected to the event registration page. Click “join waitlist” and enter your information. You will receive an email with detailed instructions to register if a ticket becomes available.
