United Nurses of Alberta has prepared four documents to help provide clarity for members affected by the transition of Employees from Alberta Health Services to the new Recovery Alberta sector-based provincial health authority:
Explaining the transition from AHS to Recovery Alberta (FAQ): This frequently asked questions document answers some of the key questions that UNA members have about how their employment will be impacted if their positions are moved to the new sector-based provincial health authority responsible for mental health and addictions.
UNA Layoff & Recall FAQ: This guide provides UNA members, locals, and staff with answers to the questions most frequently asked about layoff and position elimination.
Employer/UNA Joint Layoff & Recall Statements: This document is intended to be a resource document that guides Employer Human Resources and UNA Labour Relations Officers through the layoff and recall process. Where these joint statements contradict statements in the UNA Layoff and Recall Manual or the AHS Layoff and Recall Manual, this document takes precedence.
UNA will continue to share updated information with members at una.ca. Members with additional questions should contact their UNA Local Executive or Labour Relations Officer.
Pride Month is a time to time to come together and celebrate the vibrant diversity of LGBTQ2S+ communities in Canada and around the world. We also pause to reflect on the progress made towards equality and to recognize the work that still needs to be done.
United Nurses of Alberta commits to fighting prejudice in all its forms, so that LGBTQ2S+ people can always feel safe, valued, loved and welcomed, especially in the workplace and when seeking care.
By participating in Pride Month events, supporting LGBTQ2S+ organizations, and standing up for equality, we can all contribute to a more inclusive and accepting society. Let’s come together to celebrate identity, advocate for rights and work towards a world where love, acceptance, and equal rights are celebrated. Happy Pride!
As health care workers, UNA commits to creating welcoming environments where LGBTQ2S+ communities can feel safe, heard and understood.
The UNA Pride (LGBTQ2S+) Equity Caucus is a safe space for UNA members, where open dialogue can occur on issues and challenges that affect members that identify as LGBTQ2S+. We strive to empower and aid LGBTQ2S+ members and their allies. The equity caucus meets annually at the Provincial Annual General meeting.
