Education Funding

A portion of the EI Rebate Fund surplus will provide education funding for Local 196 dues-payers for the 2026 fiscal year.

*New Process when Submitting EI Education Funding:

1) Log into DMS

2) On the left-hand side of the screen, find the “EITF Claims” tab – To complete an EITF claim, click HERE

3) Click the “New Claim” button

4) Ensure your Direct Deposit Information is in DMS – if not, visit the Direct Deposit How to page

5) Fill in all of the sections, and hit SUBMIT

** There is no longer a separate application form to fill out and attach

6) After you submit your claim, you need to upload your receipt/proof of completion, and then attach it (2 steps)

This change was completed to increase efficiency in both submitting and receiving claims. The criteria and eligibility remain the same.

***This fund comprises monies obtained from EI Rebates via the employer held in Trust by Local 196. They are not Local 196 funds obtained through union dues and levies.***
